Fundraiser for fallen Redondo Beach Coast Guard Officer today at Malibu Fish Grill

Malibu Fish Grill in Redondo Beach will hold a fundraiser on Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the family of fallen U.S Coast Guard Petty Officer Terrell Horne III.

Horne, 34, of Redondo Beach was killed in the line of duty early Dec. 2 while pursuing a panga boat in Smugglers Cove near Santa Cruz Island. He died after hitting his head on the USCG inflatable boat’s propeller after it was rammed by the panga boat around 1:20 a.m. He was initially on patrol on “The Halibut,” an 87-foot cutter based in Marina del Rey when he was dispatched to pursue the panga boat in a rigid-hull inflatable boat.

Horne is survived by an expectant wife and child. Restaurant proceeds will be donated to his family.

“If you can’t make it, send a donation,” Redondo Beach City Councilmen Bill Brand said in an email.

Malibu Fish Grill is located on the corner of  725 N. Pacific Coast Highway. To make a donation, call the U.S Coast Guard Office of Law Enfocement at 202-372-2183 or via 2100 Second St., SW Washington, D.C. 20593.
