
Redondo Union girls basketball coach Marcelo Enriquez in no stranger to postseason play and his experience is paying dividends.
Sixth-seeded Redondo (18-11) eliminated No. 3 Patriot 55-38 in the quarterfinals on Saturday, advancing to play at No. 2 Murrieta Valley (24-5) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The visiting Sea Hawks held Patriot scoreless in the first quarter and Inara Nyingifa’s 20-point, 12-rebound performance led the way for Redondo. Taylor Smith added 11 points in the win.
On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Orange Lutheran (24-5) faces Ocean League champion and fourth-seeded Culver City (23-5) in the semifinals.
In Division 4AA, third-seeded Serra (23-6) knocked 0ff second-seeded JSerra 61-58 and will face top-seeded and unbeaten Windward (29-0) in the championship game on a date yet to be determined.
