If you stepped inside Suzy’s Bar and Grill last Thursday, you were greeted by a sonic onslaught courtesy Aeonic Impulse.
Aeonic Impulse delivered an exhilarating ride of electric, melodic goodness. As “Aeonic” implies, Aeonic Impulse’s impact would last for a long time. For the rest of the night, they electrified the crowd and shattered eardrums with excellent covers of songs from artists such as Coheed and Cambria. A smoke machine was added for dramatic effect, letting the audience know that they meant business, and a neon-lit disco ball dangled from the ceiling.
The lead singer, Gasper Spinosa (aka Howl the Archer) unexpectedly took off his shirt early in the performance, the disco lights illuminating ripped abs that made the females in the audience swoon. Look out Robert Pattinson!
He’d begun the night warming the audience up with a batch of acoustic songs, fully-clothed like a singer-songwriter. Later, it was like a rock demon has possessed Spinosa, and his mission was to set the stage ablaze. He prowled, sometimes jumping on top of the platform where the band was playing, infusing the performance with wild energy. He took swigs from a cup to sooth his parched mouth – probably from all that screaming – but that did not tame his insatiable desire to pummel the audience into submission as he screamed lyrics, echoing throughout Suzy’s, causing everyone’s ears to scream in joy as we were obliterated. Spinosa wanted the audience to get down on their knees, bow down and worship, as they would learn that resistance to the band’s glorious, metal-infused cacophony was futile. After introducing the members of the band, Spinosa finally shrieked, “And we are…Aeonic Impulse!”
The band will be performing at the “Last Chance to Reason with Evan Brewer” show at the Whiskey A Go Go on August 6th. Visit their Facebook page www.facebook.com/aeonicimpulse.
