‘Sea Starry Night’ raises $8,000 for Manhattan Beach’s Roundhouse Aquarium [PHOTOS]

Nearly 60 community members attended the Roundhouse Aquarium’s special fundraiser–titled “Sea Starry Night”–at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach Monday night to help fund the Aquarium’s educational programs for students.

The cocktail event, sponsored by The Strand House, the Pitts family and Jack and Maureen Gillespie, raised more than $8,000 from event tickets, raffle tickets and a silent auction, said Lauren Holman, co-director at the Aquarium.

“Thanks to the hard work of our staff and board members, the turnout exceeded the Roundhouse’s expectations,” Holman said.

The raffle prize was a stand-up paddle board from Nikau Kai, and auction items included a signed Clippers basketball, an overnight stay at the Shade Hotel and a 24×36 photograph by Bo Bridges. Photos
