The Palos Verdes Art Center will present the 5K for Alzheimer’s Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, September 6 at 8 a.m. The 3.1 mile course will start and finish at the Art Center.
The run will coincide with an exhibit at the center titled, “Floating Man: The sketchbook Drawings of David Rinehart,” which opened July 25 and will continue through September 14.
Rinehart completed the sketchbooks over an eleven month period, beginning immediately after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
To register for the run, go to PVArtCenter.org or phone 310-541-2479 or visit the Art Center.
Race day registrations will be accepted until 7:30 a.m. Registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Registration after August 15 is $30.
Those who would like to support the Alzheimer’s Association – California Southland Chapter and the Palos Verdes Art Center, but who do not wish to participate in the 5K, can either sponsor a runner or make a direct donation on the website or at the center.
Parking will be available in the PVAC lot as well as along the street. There will be no bag check.
In preparation for the race, runners and walkers are invited to join the PVAC Runners.
The runners meet meet, rain or shine, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at the entrance to the PVAC Galleries to walk or run a three to four mile out-and-back course. The training is free. Blythe Peelor, Visitor Services Administrator for the PVAC and 5K Race Director is an RRCA Distance Running Coach and has helped hundreds of people reach their running goals.
The Palos Verdes Art Center is located at 5504 Crestridge Road in Rancho Palos Verdes.
