A customer at Jack in the Box in Manhattan Beach was stabbed while waiting to order food in the middle of the afternoon Friday.
A man, whose name was not released by police, approached the customer from behind, mumbling unintelligibly. After walking away, he turned back around and lunged toward the customer’s stomach with a folding knife. The customer threw his drink at the man and was cut on his left forearm. The attacker then fled.
Manhattan Beach police arrived around 2:10 p.m. and provided first aid to the victim, who was then transported to a hospital. Police found the suspect in the residential area east of the restaurant and took him into custody. They also recovered the knife. Witnesses at the restaurant identified the suspect.
