Correction

An article June 17 entitled “MBEF raises money and glasses” incorrectly said that two thirds of MBEF’s net proceeds go directly toward public school programs and that the remaining third goes into an MBEF endowment fund. This distribution is true for money raised at MBEF’s annual wine auction, However, 100 percent of proceeds from MBEF’s Annual Appeal go directly toward public school programs.

MBEF raised roughly $600,000 at its June 12 Wine Auction, held at the Manhattan Beach Country Club, according to MBEF executive director Susan Warshaw.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 between Sixth and Ninth streets. Participation is free, however donations are accepted and volunteers are responsible for providing a beach towel for their child.
