Greek Festival
St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church will host the South Bay Greek Festival this weekend – from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 12; from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 13; and from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 14. Admission is $2 ($1 for seniors and free for kids under 12) and includes music, games, dancing, and access to some of the best Greek food in the South Bay. Historic homes tour
It’s not too late to buy a ticket for the biennial Historic Homes Tour, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. Hosted by the Redondo Beach Historical Society, the tour stops at some of the city’s finest historic homes, including a California bungalow built in 1921 and a Nantucket-style contemporary home with two hidden rooms.
It involves a seven-home tour, bake sale, art display, and admission to Morrell House and Queen Anne Museum.

Free concerts on the pier
Thursday, July 11, the Green Natives play the Redondo Beach Pier from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, July 13, Big Mess plays rock ‘n roll in the same location.
Teacher wins fellowship
Birney Elementary teacher Deborah Chew has won a fellowship from Earthwatch Institute that will enable her to study caterpillars and how they’re responding to climate change this summer in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona, alongside a team of standout environmental scientists. Taekwando champions
