Fight GRE test anxiety

Princeton Review will be offering a free practice GRE test designed to help those interested in enrolling in a graduate program to see how well they can do on the test. The test will be on Saturday Oct. 8 from 9 -1 p.m. on the 2nd floor meeting room of theRedondo Beach main library. To register, stop by the information desk at the main library or call 310-318-0675, using option 5.

 

Parenting the Middle Schooler

The South Bay Adult School will be starting a class for parents of 11- to 14 year-olds to help them survive the middle school years. The class will focus on brain development and learn about pre-teens/early teen motivations and how to address their needs. The class will feature discussions, provide resources and have guest speakers. The class will be a six-week session starting on Thursday Oct. 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Parras Middle School, 200 North Lucia. The cost is $69. Pier Smorgasbord

The Redondo Pier Association will be hosting the second ‘Taste of the Pier’ featuring art, bands, face painting, food tastings and more. The Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew will be featured on Saturday and a special kids club performance on Sunday, Each restaurant will showcase a different menu item and non-food retailers will offer other discounts and items in support of the Cancer Support Community and Redondo Beach Educational Foundation. The event will be Oct. 8-9 from 12-4 p.m. at the Redondo Pier, 100 Fisherman’s Wharf. The event is free, and tasting tickets are just $1 each.
