Redondo Schools to have free breakfast, lunch
The Redondo Beach Unified School District announced Monday that school breakfast and lunch programs will be free to all students in 2022-23. The meals are to be paid for by the California Universal Meals Program.
Participating schools in Redondo Beach include Redondo Union High School, Alta Vista School, Beryl Heights School, Birney, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Tulita and Washington schools; Adams Middle School, Parras Middle School, Patricia Dreizler Continuation High School and South Bay Adult School.
Calls for mayor pro-tem re-vote
In open public comment Tuesday night at the city council meeting, eight people spoke against the June 21 appointment of Mayor Pro-Tem Nils Nehrenheim, which changed a long-standing rotation for the post.
One of the eight who called for a re-vote, to “correct this wrong,” was Maggie Healy, a former assistant city manager and 30-year-employee of Redondo Beach, who was presented upon retirement with a Key to the City. ER
