Collage donates instruments to young musicians

Collage’s instrument donation program recognizes an unfortunate truth, says Collage founder, Richard Foss: as much as graduation is a reason for celebration, when music students leave high school, they often lose the community they have been playing with, the place they have been playing, and the instrument that the school provided. Collage helps students transition into the San Pedro music community by providing all three. They give students instruments that they can use permanently, including over the summer, open their space for monthly jam sessions, and work to foster a community in which young people may continue to form friendships based on a shared love of music. Collage recently extended their donation program beyond high school students, and it will include disabled veterans and previously incarcerated people. The music venue is located at 731 S Pacific Ave., San Pedro. For upcoming shows visit CollageArtCulture.com.

Malaga Cove Art On The Lawn

Palos Verdes residents know summer has officially arrived when the Malaga Cove Art OnThe Lawn shows spring up in Malaga Plaza. Visitors and art aficionados can meet with local artists from seven different art groups affiliated with the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC) one weekend a month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m in a family friendly outdoor environment. The artists exhibit not only paintings, but also photographs, ceramic goods and custom jewelry. This is all made possible by the City of Palos Verdes Estates. The shows have been a community tradition for over 80 years. The next shows will be on Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20.
