Ballot parity in RPV race for three seats

Fewer than 300 votes separated the top three candidates on Tuesday night and fewer than 7 percentage points separated all five candidates in the race for three Rancho Palos Verdes City Council seats. David Bradley, currently chair of the planning commission, led with 3,932 votes, followed by former council member Barbara Ferraro and Ken Dyda, a founding father of the city in 1973 and also a former council member.

Planning commissioners Dave Emehenhiser and Stephen Perestam missed being elected, finishing with 3,169 votes and 2,756 votes respectively. Uncounted provisional ballots were not thought to be enough to change the outcome.

As a result of a new state mandate that city elections align with statewide elections, the newly elected council members’ terms will expire in 2022.
