Spirit of the Holidays Parade, San Pedro
Rain or Shine! Each year, this festive tradition brings families, little leagues, scouts, students, high school bands, equestrian units, and volunteers to downtown San Pedro to celebrate the holiday season and our community. Handel’s Messiah Concert, St. Cross Choir
The 1742 premiere performance of Handel’s masterpiece was designed as a charitable benefit. That first performance raised enough funds to set 143 people free from debtor’s prisons. The tradition of performing the piece for charitable causes has continued through the centuries. Free event with a free-will offering collection. Beach Cities Toy Drive unwraps 32nd annual charity collection
Unwrapped toys left in Beach City Toy Drive bins at the Hermosa and Manhattan Beach fire and police stations will be distributed to local charities, including the Richstone Family Center, St. Cross 1736 Crisis Center, the Salvation Army and the Harbor UCLA Child Crisis Center.
Hermosa Cyclery donates two dozen bicycles each year in memory of their founder Harold “Schu” Schumaker. The Hermosa Chamber donates toys it collects as admission to its annual holiday mixer.
The Beach Cities Toy Drive gift wrapping part is Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. ‘til the toys are wrapped at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave. If possible, bring scissors, tape and wrapping paper. For more information email BeachCitiesToyDrive@gmail.com. ER
