The 32nd Beach Cities Toy Drive

Every holiday season Beach Cities Toy Drive collects toys and the volunteers wrap them before handing them off to their partner organizations. You can volunteer your time to help wrap the toys on Saturday, December 21 from 11 a.m. until all the toys are wrapped. Bring scissors, tape, and any extra wrapping paper you have. 12 Days of Christmas, Long Beach

Giant Menorah Lightings, Manhattan Village

Hermosa Santa Sleigh parade

Santa makes his yearly trip around Hermosa Beach. He will be stopping at three parks for about 20 minutes before he joins everyone at the Community Center for the annual holiday movie night at 5 p.m. Santa departs from the Community Center, 710 Pier Avenue at 3:30 p.m. First stop Valley Park, 2521 Valley Drive at 3:40 p.m. Stop #2 Friendship Park 350 Prospect Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Stop #3 South Park 425 Valley Drive at 4:40 p.m. For more information and the route map, visit Hermosabeach.gov. Christmas in Connecticut

Malaga Cove Library presents popcorn and an old Hollywood movie at Malaga Cove Library. Barbara Stanwyck stars as a famous expert on marriage, cooking and homemaking who is asked by her publisher to host a national hero for Christmas dinner at her famous Connecticut home. The California Great Santa Stroll takes place Saturday, December 14 at the Hermosa Beach pier from 8 ‘til noon. Free Santa suits to registrants, who are invited to run/walk to the Manhattan Beach pier and back. Pets in costume are encouraged. Register at santastroll24.funraise.org.

Santa Stroll, Hermosa Beach Pier

The California Great Santa Stroll is part of a world competition for the most Santas gathered in one location. The festive event is a 5K run and walk for all ages and abilities benefiting Mychal’s Learning Place. Even your 4 legged friends can join the fun of the walk and costume contests. Candy Cane Lane, El Segundo

Final night on Monday, December 23. There will be street closures from 5 – 11 p.m. at the 1100 and 1200 blocks of East Acacia Avenue and the 900 block of California Street. The Candy Cane Lane shuttle will stop at Recreation Park, at the end of Guaymas Parking Lot and 401 Sheldon Street, and at Sycamore Park. Dusk to 9:30 p.m. Santa Claus will be at his sleigh every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. Free. 

King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade

Santa Saturday in Manhattan

Long Beach Nutcracker

A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol, Torrance Theater

Join the Annual Golf Cart Parade and Scavenger Hunt by decorating your cart and dressing up for a festive ride through Downtown Manhattan Beach. Spectators are encouraged to come out and enjoy the parade. 3:30 – 6 p.m. Golf carts will assemble at Pacific Elementary starting at 4 p.m. Prizes will be announced at 4:45 p.m., and the parade will begin at 5 p.m. traveling throughout Downtown Manhattan Beach.

Happy Noon Year, MB Library

Holiday Tree Recycling

Christmas trees can be picked up for recycling on your normal trash collection day. Thursday, December 26, and continue through the second week of January. Trees must be less than 7 feet long or cut into 7-foot sections. Please remove all lights, decorations, tinsel, ornaments, and metal stands. Flocked trees will be collected at the curb but cannot be recycled.
