The Catalina Classic
Paddlers from all over the world will take to the waters off Southern California in the 47th annual Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race, the premier and most historical paddleboard race in the world. Paddlers will leave the Isthmus Cove, Catalina Island, at 6 a.m. and paddle 32 miles to the Manhattan Beach Pier on paddle boards (between 12 and 19 feet long) using only their hands to propel them through the water. Swells, Currents, and wind conditions play into what is notoriously one of the most grueling endurance events in the world. Information: Paddleguru.com.

Catalina Cup, Manhattan Pier
The Catalina cup is a fun, family friendly, 2-mile paddleboard race that will happen in conjunction with the world famous Catalina Classic. The 2-mile race starts off Manhattan Beach and races south just outside the surf, one mile. From there, the paddlers will round 2 big red buoys, race back to the pier on the historic Catalina Classic race course, then sprint up the beach and across the finish line. The Catalina Cup race course was designed as a fun, family friendly race for Junior Lifeguards, all family and friends, and those that may be new to paddleboard racing. Don’t own a paddleboard? No problem. The Catalina Cup has a foamy division, so grab your soft board and head down to the fun. 7:30 a.m. pre-race check in.
