Calling All Volunteers
Moai Walking Teams kick-off on April 25th and 26th with launch events at local elementary schools in partnership with the Beach Cities Health District’s Steppin’ Out program. Over the next ten weeks, thousands of beach cities residents will spend time walking with friends to interesting destinations.

We need your help organizing and leading those teams. If you volunteer, you’ll get a free pedometer and a snazzy new Vitality City t-shirt.
So, what are you waiting for? Pick your volunteer role from the choices below, then click the “Sign Up” link and complete the application.
1. Be a Neighborhood Coordinator – Coordinators for each neighborhood organize and support the walking team leaders in their geographic area by suggesting walking destinations, receiving and reporting step-count totals from Team Leaders and more. Neighborhood Coordinators receive a free Vitality City t-shirt and pedometer.
2. Be a Team Leader – Leaders set a time and place for their group to meet each week and lead them on 30-minute walks. Leaders also spark conversation, encourage social connection, remind team members about each walk, collect weekly steps from the group and report them to Neighborhood Coordinators and find a replacement if they can’t participate in a weekly walk. Vitality City staff will train and equip you for success. Team Leaders receive a free Vitality City t-shirt and pedometer too.
3. Be a Kick-off Coordinator – Kick-off coordinators help organize and run the kick-off events at area elementary schools. If you can devote two to three hours of your time on either April 25th or 26th to helping people organize into walking teams, then this is the job for you. You’ll receive full instructions and training. Kick-off Coordinators receive a Vitality City t-shirt and pedometer.
