The first of two Brit-West Soccer Camps will be held Mon.-Fri. at Manhattan Village Field. Tot camps will be held in 1?-hour sessions for boys and girls ages 3-4. Cost is $95/$105 non-resident. Volleyball
The Amateur Athletic Union hosts the 17th AAU Junior Nationals Beach Volleyball tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Hermosa Beach Pier. The largest junior beach volleyball tournament in the country features over 200 teams from as many as 10 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Play begins at 9 a.m. each day and is open to boys 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and girls 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U divisions. Fee is $70 ($60 for boys 10U and girls 10U, 18U). Volleyball Ventures hosts men’s and women’s doubles along with a Pre-SurfFest 6’s tournament beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Manhattan Beach Pier. The event includes four levels of play (beginner to advanced) and is played in a round-robin format. Players can sign up individually, rotating players from their pool for each match. Board paddling practice is being offered on Thursday evenings throughout July at 6:30 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Divided into groups by ability levels, the sessions help novices get comfortable in the surf, intermediates gain technical input and provide experienced padddlers with someone to workout with. The annual Hennessey’s Paddleboard Festival Takes place Saturday at Avenue I in Redondo Beach. The event includes the Junior Guard race, the Rainbow Sandals Cup series and the US Paddleboard Championships. The 9-mile race goes to the Palos Verdes buoy and back.
