Online registration for the Manhattan Beach Sand & Surf Soccer Winter League season is now open for boys and girls in U5, U6, U7, U8, U9, U10 and U12 divisions. The program incorporates individual skill development with small sided tactical development over a seven week season. Professional tennis players John Isner and Sam Querrey, who form the core of the US Davis Cup team, will be holding the Inaugural Charity Challenge tennis exhibition at the Manhattan Beach country Club on Sunday, Dec. 5. Scheduled to participate are former world #1’s Lindsay Davenport and Tracy Austin along with other high profile stars to be announced. The event is set to be a unique showcase and combination of tennis and Hollywood with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Velocity Sports Performance coaches train athletes in grade 3-8 in improving first step quickness, lateral speed and top speed while reducing the likelihood of injury. Redondo Union High School will be holding its Basketball Alumni Night and Game on Saturday, Nov. 27. Former players are invited to participate in a game versus other alumni or the current Redondo teams. The event begins at 5 p.m. with an Alumni vs. RUHS JV game followed by a 3-Point Shooting Contest at 6 p.m. The Alumni take on the Sea Hawk varsity squad at 6:30 p.m. Festivities conclude with an Alumni Reception at On the Rocks at 8 p.m. Fan admission is $10/person and includes a Redondo Basketball T-Shirt ($5 admission without t-shirt). Players Fee is $20 per person and includes a reversible jersey and Redondo Basketball T-Shirt.
