Best Neighborhood Hardware Store
Even with his hand held inventory computer, Triangle Hardware owner Sonny Virgi doesn’t have a clue as to the number of different parts he stocks. He does know that his screws and fasteners cabinet has 804 drawers. Experience is how Virgi says he knows what to stock. He’s worked in hardware stores for nearly three decades. Two decades ago he received a phone call from Triangle founder John Workman. Virgi, who was working at a hardware store in Torrance, had told Workman to call when he was ready to retire. Since that time the “big boxes” have made the neighborhood hardware store an endangered species. But Virgi isn’t worried. “Better prices, better service and we’re just a phone call away,” he said in explaining Triangle’s enduring popularity.
