Ranger Guided Walk

Join the free family hike, every second Sat., through the beautiful 102-acre White Point Nature Preserve, 1600 W Paseo del Mar, San Pedro. 10 a.m. – noon. pvplc.org.

An Alta Vicente guided walk, 9 – 11 a.m., will explore some of the Peninsula’s military history as well as learning how the arduous process of restoring degraded land creates lush native habitats attracting birds and wildlife. Comedy: “A Matter of Size”

900 Club charity poker

NextStep presents its 5th annual 900 Club Charity Poker Tournament, bringing together members of the 900 Club, celebrity guests, local businesses, and friends in support of a worthy charitable cause. The 900 Club will host 70 players at $100 buy-in with cocktails, delicious food, amazing prizes, beautiful and professional dealers. This event is designed to unite the Los Angeles community around an important cause, increase awareness about the lack of resources available for those living with disabilities, and raise funds to enable NextStep to continue to provide the best in fitness, health, and wellness to people living with physical disabilities in Southern California. SoulAviv live!

Music of America

El Segundo Concert Band, under the direction of Maestro Steven Allen Fox, opens its 2013-2014 season with a tribute to the 150th Battle of Gettysburg. As a part of El Segundo’s Veterans Day activities, the free concert begins at 3 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, 640 Main St. Selections portray the beauty of America and the nostalgia of the Civil War Era. Veterans Day Service

The City of Redondo Beach and Elks Lodge #1378 Veterans Memorial Task Force will observe the day at Veterans Park beginning at 1 p.m. with a solemn observance including reflection and remembrance, music and commentary and honors to all those members of the military who have served their country. Local elected officials will participate, as will the RUHS USMC Junior ROTC, the LA Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums and RUHS Wind Ensemble and Chorale. Chronic Health Management

The Hermosa Five-O Senior Center is hosting a group for Healthier Living: Managing Ongoing Health Conditions, a free, six-week program (it began on Nov. 4) coordinated with Beach Cities Health District, and addressing the needs of individuals and/or their loved ones living with chronic health conditions. R&B’s ‘stache party

Rock & Brews has joined the Movember Foundation for it annual month-long mustache movement at its El Segundo and Redondo Beach locations to raise money for and awareness about testicular and prostate cancers. The El Segundo kick off begins at 4 p.m., where guests and staffers will receive old-fashioned shaves on a first come/first serves basis in prep for the contest. Team members at both locations will not shave for 30 days and guests are invited to make voluntary donations to the Movember Foundation throughout the month.
