The Bay League will be well represented during the soccer playoffs with boys and girls teams from Mira Costa, Redondo, Palos Verdes and Peninsula vying for CIF titles.

In girls competition, the South Bay will boast four ranked teams including Bay League champion Palos Verdes (No. 5) and runner-up Redondo (No. 8) competing in Division 2. All games with the exception of the finals are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. If lights are available, games can start at 5 p.m. with the approval of the CIF-SS.

Palos Verdes (15-3-3) will host Carter (10-5-9) in the first round on Thursday while Redondo (16-7-2) will play host to Redlands (13-10-3).

Redondo coach Shelly Marsden feels the Sea Hawks have received a very tough draw in the playoffs.

“We have a second-place Redlands team and then if we were to get past them, we face 7th seed Hart and then the 2nd seed Vista Murrieta,” Marsden said. “But no matter who we play, I love my team’s ability to play both pretty and tough. They have great team chemistry and rally behind each other no matter whether it’s going our way or not.  If we can finish, we can beat anyone.”

North Torrance (17-6-1) hosts Knight (11-9-2) while South Torrance (14-6-3) plays at Cypress (14-4-5).

In Division 4, El Segundo (12-6-4) travels to Marlborough (5-4-8) and Coastal champion Vistamar (14-1) is ranked No. 8 in division 7 and will host Pomona (10-10-2).

Second-round games will be played Tuesday followed by the quarterfinals (Thursday, Feb. 25), semifinals (Tuesday, Mar. 1) and the finals on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 4-5).
