Two of the three Bay League representatives advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs to be held Saturday.

Third-seeded Mira Costa (18-13) held off visiting Righetti 6-4 and will host La Serna (17-13) at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The winner advances and will take on the victor of the game between second-seeded ML King and Harvard-Westlake in the semifinals next Wednesday.

Harvard-Westlake eliminated Peninsula with a 7-6 home victory on Wednesday.

Redondo (19-8) jumped out to an early 4-1 lead before pulling away with a 12-4 win over visiting Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks.

Ilene Guerrero, Sophie Maguy and Maddie McCaw each scored three goals; Mackenzie Thomas added two goals and Katelin Harris scored once for the Sea Hawks.

Redondo will host top-seeded Arroyo Grande (22-6) Saturday at 12 p.m. The victor will face the winner between second-seeded Troy and Santiago/Corona in the semifinals.

“I think we have a whole new mindset going into these playoff games, the girls are more focused and determined to continue to push their limits to see how far they can go this post-season,” Redondo coach Shelby Haroldson said. “We’re are getting a chance to play good teams that we’ve never faced before, which I think helps mentally, not knowing the other team personally helps the girls just play their game.

“We’re not trying to over-think about playing the top-seeded team. We’re just going into the game excited and ready to play a good game. I know all the Sea Hawk fans are looking forward to seeing what these girls can accomplish on Saturday.”

In Division 6, El Segundo defeated Elsinore 13-5 in a wild-card game but was eliminated by host Westlake 13-6 Thursday afternoon.
