The man behind Hermosa Beach restaurants Abigaile and Dia De Campo has now brought a CrossFit gym to town.

Restauranteur Jed Sanford’s CrossFit Horse Power will be open for viewings this Friday and will have classes starting Aug 8. The 5,800 square foot gym is located on Cypress Avenue in the town’s industrial zone. This is CrossFit Horse Power’s second location. It’s first location is in Studio City.

“I love Hermosa,” Sanford said. “I’ve had an eye on this property for this concept. I think it’s an undiscovered area, it’s sort of untapped.”

While the industrial zone is an unusual choice for a gym, Sanford said it does give Crossfit Horse Power something that many businesses in Hermosa Beach envy: ample parking.

Many CrossFit gyms are aimed at hard core athletes and housed in minimalist, garage like settings. CrossFit Horse Power co-owner Dan Wells said they looked to make their facility more user friendly. Amenities include air conditioning, showers, and a recovery room with an ice bath and a hot tub.

“We cater to a totally different crowd,” Wells said. “It’s more for the everyday person looking to get into shape.”

Memberships for CrossFit Horse Power will start at $150 a month and will go up to $179 per month after Aug. 14. Visit crossfithorsepower.com for more information.
