Dan Bauhs loved the outdoors

Dan Lance Bauhs, a former Manhattan Beach man remembered for his love of outdoors, died on Jan. 24 in a skiing accident in Taos, New Mexico. He was 60.

Bauhs is survived by his mother, Bette, his sister and her husband, Terri and Donald Dinubilo, his sister Zenna, his wife Rose and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

A 1970 graduate of Aviation High School, Bauhs was born and raised in Manhattan Beach. He spent many summers camping, fishing, hiking and swimming at Devil’s Postpile National Monument in Mammoth Lakes, California. He enjoyed bodysurfing and spent his winters skiing. He was an avid Grateful Dead fan and loved to ride his Harley.

Bauhs moved to Tahoe, Nevada, in the 1980s and followed his passion for skiing to Taos, New Mexico, where he lived for more than 20 years.
