El Segundo Police arrest alleged sexual predator

el segundo police badgeEl Segundo police arrested and charged a 40-year-old Los Angeles man in connection with sexually assaulting a young woman he met online. Andrew Donkor is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday, said Lt. Raymond Garcia.

Donkor met a 15-year-old girl outside her home in El Segundo on Tuesday at about 10 p.m. after meeting her at yearbook.com and establishing an internet relationship over several months, according to police. The victim did not know Donkor was on parole and a previously convicted sex offender, police said. Donkor drove her to another location in El Segundo where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

After she was driven home, the police were notified. With the help of the victim, the police were able to contact Donkor and coax him into returning to El Segundo. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Main Street where he was arrested in the early morning on Wednesday. Donkor, who is originally from Ghana, Africa, faces charges that include unlawful sex with a minor and lewd acts with a minor.

Garcia said Donkor appears to visit many social media sites and “is throwing out a wide net trying to attract young females.”

The police ask that if anyone has an information on Donkor committing similar crimes, please contact Detective Jeff Humphrey at 310-524-2284 or jhumphrey@elsegundo.org.
