ES sports – Fire department rescues

With less than a week to go before the South Bay Aquatic Center’s Saturday September 29 ribbon cutting, its parking lot had no asphalt, its sidewalks no cement and worst of all, the 10-lane, 50 meter long Olympic swimming pool had no water. The plumbing wasn’t done. A little hustle by the contractor got the parking lot and sidewalks paved. But the plumbing couldn’t be rushed. Fortunately, the El Segundo Fire Department sent its pump engine to the rescue.

Following the ribbon cutting, current and former El Segundo high swimmers coaches were able to jump into the new pool.

The pool is scheduled to open to the public and for Wiseburn and El Segundo High swimmers in early November. For more information visit ESAquatics.org
