South Bay Galleria introduces Healthy Food Options

Photo submitted by the South Bay Galleria. The South Bay Galleria has introduced “Healthy Food Options” guides throughout the food court and mall. They will also be offering community events for both adults and children that encourage physical activity and good health. The program is part of the Beach Cities Health District’s Vitality City initiative.

“Research showed that customers felt the food court was unhealthy. We wanted to show that there are actually healthy options from which to choose, and the experience that is healthy can also be tasty,” said Mickey Marraffino, Regional Marketing Director of South Bay Galleria. Individual food court restaurants at the Galleria are working to make more healthy food options available to customers. Napoli Pizza is currently working towards its own certification as a Blue Zone Restaurant. Other restaurants participating in offering healthy options include Chick-fil-A, El Pollo Loco, Great Khan’s Mongolian BBQ, Hot Dog on a Stick, McDonald’s, Panda Express, Ruby Thai, Steak Escape and Tokyo Grill.
