Hermosa Beach 24th Place Independence Day Parade follows the old white truck

Dave Garrret leads the 24th Pl. Independence Day Parade in his 50-year-old ford pick-up

Over three decades ago, 24th Place, Hermosa Beach residents Dave and Mary Garrett, the Beals and Noel Castiel rallied their neighbors for a Fourth of July parade. Every year since, neighbors have decorated their pets, cars and bikes and paraded up and down what may be the steepest hills in Hermosa. The parade follows the Garretts’ 1970 white Ford pick-up along  no certain route. But eventually the parade always ends up back at the Garrett 24th Place home at the bottom of the hill.
