Hermosa Beach About Town

Phone line issues

A series of recent outages in the city’s phone system was due to technical issues on the part of the city’s landline provider, and staff are working to resolve the problem, said City Manager Suja Lowenthal. Late last month, the city experienced five outages of its phone lines, according to Nixle alerts informing residents about the subject. It is not clear how many calls were missed during the down time. The outages affected departments like Finance and Public works but not 911 emergency calls, said HBPD Sgt. Mick Gaglia, which are routed through the Regional Communications Center.
