Hermosa Mayor’s town hall, council candidate debate

Mayor’s town hall meeting

Hermosa Beach Mayor Dean Francois invites residents to attend a town hall meeting, to be held Monday, September 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in city council chambers at 1315 Valley Drive. The first hour will focus on city operations. City Manager Suja Lowenthal will be available to answer questions. City operations will be followed by a forum facilitated by Mayor Francois on topics such as city hall renovations, parking, traffic, beach volleyball events, community involvement and economic development.

Hermosa council candidate debate

The Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Association will host a debate between the five candidates seeking two open Hermosa council seats on the November 5 election. The candidates are Planning Commissioner and businessman Jani Lange, incumbent/firefighter Michael Detoy, business owner Michael Keegan, journalist Elka Worner and business owner Brian Shiel. Public safety, quality of life and civic goals will be among the topics addressed. The future of residential and commercial development in Hermosa will also be addressed. The audience will be invited to submit questions.
The debate will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, September 26 at the Hermosa Beach City Council chambers, at 1315 Valley Drive.
The debate will be broadcast live on the City’s Spectrum and Verizon cable channels and available live and for replay on the City’s YouTube channel. ER
