Mother of two killed in traffic collision
Jennifer Lynne Jensen, mother of two sons, was killed in a traffic collision on Dec. 23. She was 53.
“My mom was like my best friend basically, she was like a big sister to me. It’s been me and my brother and my mom for as long as I’ve been born,” said her son, Shawn Jensen, 23. “I just miss her.”
According to police reports, a 17-year-old making a U-turn at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and 8th Street collided with Jensen, who was traveling southbound in a motorcycle on Sepulveda on a green light. The collision occurred just after 3 p.m.
Manhattan Beach paramedics treated Jensen at the scene and transported her to Little Company of Mary Hospital Emergency Room, where she died of head trauma injuries, according to a police statement.
The traffic collision and investigation closed all southbound lanes on Sepulveda for several hours, according to the statement.
Jensen and her two sons have lived in Redondo Beach since 2002, Shawn said. Shawn attends Santa Monica College. “I was going to school full time, so I wasn’t able to work,” he said, adding that his mother took care of him and his 25-year-old brother, who is mentally disabled. “She was supporting us.”
Funeral arrangements are pending.
