LA murder parolee arrested afteralleged assault, burglary, kidnapping

A man, out on parole for murder, was arrested in Redondo Beach on Tuesday after allegedly breaking into a home, assaulting residents and attempting to kidnap a child.

According to Redondo Beach police, the incident began at 7:30, when a man, later identified as Eric Terrell Davis, allegedly entered an unlocked garage on the 1800 block of Speyer Lane. When he was confronted by residents, he attacked a man in the home before being shoved out of the door.

Officers arrived at the scene soon after and were directed to the corner of Flagler and Belmont Lanes, where Davis allegedly was fighting another resident. Davis is said to have approached the resident — a woman who was getting her kids ready for school — punched her, grabbed her son and dragged him several feet. A male neighbor came out to intervene, and was being attacked by Davis as officers approached, police said.

As officers tried to restrain Davis, he attempted to escape, leading officers to use a Taser electroshock weapon to force him down, police said. Police believe Davis was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Davis was taken to a local hospital for treatment; three victims and a police officer were treated by paramedics at the scene, though one of the victims was also taken to a local hospital for his injuries. Davis, a resident of Los Angeles, is out on parole for murder, Redondo police said.

According to RBPD Capt. Jon Naylor, police are investigating what Davis was doing in Redondo Beach and how he got to the city. He has been booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, attempted kidnapping and possession of narcotics.
