On Monday, the US team beat Canada 4-3 in the semi-final game with a last minute headder by Alex Morgan during over-time. The two previous games against North Korea and New Zealand were shut-outs. Canada will battle France for bronze on Thursday.
The gold-medal game will be a re-match against Japan, who bested them during the FIFA World Cup last summer.
“I am excited to represent my country in this Olympics and to lay it all on the line with my teammates standing next to me in hopes to bring home a gold medal for our fans and each other,” Wambach told the Easy Reader in an email.
