Local youths win Hermosa Beach Triathlon

Ella Parsley, of Manhattan Beach placed first at the Hermosa Beach Triathlon on Sunday, in the juniors division, (14-17), in a time of 1:00.03, five minutes faster than her winning time at the 2018 Hermosa Triathlon. Torrance cross country runner Connor Goldstein placed first in the boys’ junior division in 1:00:45.

Over 500 competitors participated in what was the first South Bay triathlon since the start of the pandemic. The one-quarter mile ocean swim started just south of the Hermosa Beach pier. The 10 mile bike ride went up Pier Avenue and circled the green belt. The three-mile run was an out and back course along The Strand.

 Andrew Rayner placed first overall in a time of 51:05, followed by Graham Bartlett in a time of 52:24, and Peter Thorpe in 52:25. The top female finisher was Kim K (last name not available) in 53:16.
