Manhattan Beach About Town

Rounder’s Founders

On July 24, four of the Roundhouse Aquarium founders will discuss the challenges and rewards of starting a marine studies lab in the 1970s. Their conversation will be moderated by Lynne Gross, an Aquarium Board member. John Roberts, Board president, will give an update on the current renovation. 7 – 8:30 p.m. Manhattan Beach Library, 1320 Highland Ave., Manhattan Beach. (310) 802-5447.

Shakespeare by the Sea

Shakespeare by the Sea will present “The Winter’s Tale” on August 10 and “The Merry Wives of Winsdor” on August 11 at Polliwog Park.

“Jealousy is a common thread that runs through both productions this season – but how it’s handled by Shakespeare’s characters is as different as chalk and cheese,” says producing artistic director, Lisa Coffi. “However. both plays come full circle with forgiveness, resolution, and a sense that they’re all moving on to embrace what comes next.  A relatable theme for all of us – any age, any ethnicity, any background.”

The shows are free and begin at 7 p.m.
