Fireworks show The 33rd Annual Manhattan Beach Fireworks show, sponsored by Skechers, will take place December 12 after sundown. Producer Peter Moffatt issued a statement encouraging attendees to sit on the beach, because there will be limited seating on Manhattan Beach Boulevard due to the temporary dining decks. He also said the “Bounce Park” for kids is canceled this year due to COVID concerns. The Snow Park, however, will be open from 3 to 6 p.m., including the Santa float for photo opportunities. The Mira Costa Choir will sing and stroll through downtown, starting at 4 p.m., the MCHS Jazz Band performs at 5 p.m., and Joe’s Band at 6 p.m. Fireworks commence at 7 p.m.

Toy drive
The City of Manhattan Beach, in cooperation with Hermosa Beach, is participating in the 27th Annual Beach Cities Toy Drive. Residents can bring unwrapped toys to either of the Manhattan Beach fire stations or City Hall. The wrapping party will take place at the Hermosa Beach Community Center (710 Pier Ave.) Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. until all the toys are wrapped.

It’s a Wonderful Life
The Yoga Loft MB, in collaboration with Trinity Lutheran Church, is putting on a unique production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 7 p.m. Dec. 17, 18, and 19. This adaptation was written by the Yoga Loft’s Greg Coccino, who also is directing, while Justin Randolph will star as George Bailey. Trinity Luthern is at 1340 11th Street. Vaccine mandate
Employee unions have agreed to the City of Manhattan Beach’s vaccination mandate, but as part of the agreement the compliance deadline has been moved from December 1 to June 1, 2022.
“Employees who demonstrate a valid medical reason or religious belief may be exempted,”City Manager Bruce Moe told the City Council Tuesday night. ER
