Scam alert
The Manhattan Beach Police Department has received several complaints concerning an ongoing telephone scam. According to MBPD, the suspects call from (424) 301-6278, claim to be police captains, and ask residents to send gift cards or money. The callers suggest that if you don’t give, you may find yourself in jail.
“The Manhattan Beach Police Department will never call you telling you to send money or else you’ll be incarcerated,” the department said in a statement. “The MBPD cannot stop these scammers from calling so please immediately block their phone numbers.”
