Ocean Tire does more than just tires, said manager Eric Gilsdorf. These days, close to 80 percent of the autoshop’s business on Aviation Blvd. in Hermosa Beach comes from service repairs.
“We’re huge on repair and can take care of your tire needs also,” Gilsdorf said. “People have had it flip flopped for so many years because of the name.”
Despite a bit of confusion, Ocean Tire has managed to cultivate a loyal customer base in the South Bay since 1999. With seven service bays, the shop services all makes and models.
The shop goes beyond what most mechanics will do to make people happy, including complimentary rentals and “whatever it takes to make it right,” Gilsdorf said.
The shop is full of positive reviews on the web site Yelp. One customer, Aaron from Hermosa Beach, said his family has been coming to Ocean Tire for 10 years.
“These guys know how to operate an honest, reliable and efficient business,” he wrote. “The best part is their pricing, no rip offs or shady additional fees like other places.”
