PVP Land Conservancy

Native Plant Nursery Volunteer Days: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. Enjoy nurturing seedlings and help plants grow for habitat restoration projects. Must RSVP 48 hours in advance. Woman’s Club

Founded in 1926, the Palos Verdes Woman’s Club supports the welfare and activities of philanthropies operating in the Palos Verdes Peninsula and surrounding areas. Summer Concerts in Palos Verdes

Meet the Band

3-5 p.m. Join the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band for a family-friendly concert. The band will demonstrate various musical instruments and feature the different sections that make a concert band. Selections will include Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Eugene McAdoo. Amuse Music Center will provide a musical instrument “petting zoo” before the concert and at intermission in which kids can interact with various concert band instruments. Scissor Paper rocks

Women’s Spiritual Friendship Circle

10 a.m. Confidential and accepting, Spiritual Friendship Circles are a process to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God in all parts of life. Like group spiritual direction, participate in the group process through prayerful listening and response. Cacti & Succulent Society 

1 p.m. Peter Breslin draws on five years and 9 field seasons on islands in the Pacific off the coast of southern Baja California to present a panoramic view of rare cactus and succulent species found only in that region. Native Plant Sales

By the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy at George F Canyon and White Point Nature Centers. Colorful, drought tolerant plants are now available on first-come, first-serve basis. These plants are grown from seeds harvested on the Peninsula and raised at the Conservancy nursery. These local plant species will look beautiful and help attract butterflies and other pollinators. Keep history alive

11 a.m. Friends of Banning Museum hosts lecture by retired Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles Dr. Geraldine Knatz in the historic carriage barn. “Lost Communities of Los Angeles Harbor” will emphasize Terminal Island, the resort and artist communities that once thrived in the middle of the Los Angeles Harbor. Terminal Island once served as a resort for the wealthy Southern California landowners and as a refuge for its artists, writers and scientists, all in need of a respite from the heat of the city. Tour d’ Art 2018  

New this year, The Shop@PVAC, will host over a dozen artisans and craftsmen in the Atrium at Palos Verdes Art Center. Each artist’s home studio on the peninsula features several guest artists as well as the work of the artist in residence. Artwork will include paintings, ceramics, sculpture, woodcarving, photography, jewelry and art-to-wear. Each Studio offers refreshments. Locations are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. At $20, Tour d’ Art 2018 is an incredible event. Tickets may also be purchased by cash or check only at The Shop@PVAC located within the Palos Verdes Art Center, 5504 W. Crestridge Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes.
