Police Beat in Manhattan Beach

Attempted spa robbery

Two men walked into a massage studio on Aug. 10 pretending to have guns and ordered a woman to open a safe, according to Manhattan Beach Police Department reports. The woman fled and locked herself in an office.

Police, who arrived at Oasis Traditional Thai Massage and Spa on Sepulveda Boulevard around 9:20 p.m. and evacuated the business, believe the men left before they responded. A helicopter from the Long Beach Police Department searched the area but couldn’t find the suspects. Nine employees and three customers were around at the time, but some employees weren’t aware of the attempted robbery. Nothing was taken and no one was injured.

The case is currently under investigation. The suspects are described as clean-shaven, six-foot-tall black men in their 40s. One weighed around 200 pounds and was wearing a black shirt, and the other had a thin build and was wearing an orange shirt. No vehicle was seen. Police ask those with information to call 310-802-5127.
