Last week the burned remains of a Long Beach man were found in an old-model SUV in the 30100 block of Miraleste Drive.

Police identified the body of Christopher Waters, 47, who was found in the SUV, but a coroner’s investigation will not issue a cause of death for several months. Investigators though have already ruled the incident a homicide.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the burning vehicle located on a basketball court at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday April 23 and removed it later that night. Another car parked along side it was also reportedly towed away. Since 2007 there have been just three homicides in Rancho Palos Verdes, according to the LA Times homicide report. ER
