Sexual assault

Around 2 a.m. on Friday, a woman contacted the police and told them that she was approached by a taxicab driver who offered her a ride twice, even after she declined both times. Upon his third request, she accepted the ride. According to the police, she said that during the ride, the driver reached over to the passenger seat and began to touch the woman’s leg and attempted to kiss her. She told the driver “no” several times, police said. The driver dropped her off near Rockefeller and Slauson lanes unharmed.

Loaded driver

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, a police officer pulled over a driver under suspicion of DUI. While investigating the driver, the police discovered that the individual’s driver license was suspended and that he was also in possession of a loaded five shot .22 caliber revolver. The weapon was hidden in a sunglasses case in the center console. According to police, the driver was arrested and booked for the DUI, suspended license and weapons charges. The driver claimed the loaded and concealed firearm was needed for protection.

Burglaries

Last Thursday, police responded to a burglary on the 700 block of Avenue B. According to police, $18,000 of property was stolen.

On the same day, police said there was a vehicle break-in on the 2300 block of Vanderbilt Lane. The vehicle’s registration and documents were stolen.

Another vehicle burglary was reported on Saturday on the 200 block of South Broadway. Power tools were stolen and the locks were disabled. Later in the day on Saturday, a vehicle was broken into on the 2100 block of Farrell Ave. Sporting goods, athletic clothing and a car battery were stolen. ER
