
Defending Bay League champion Redondo tips off the boys basketball season when the Sea Hawks host many of Southern California’s elite teams in the 64th annual Pacific Shores tournament.
Each of the 16 schools competing in the tournament reached the playoffs last season with seven advancing to the CIF State tournament.
Action begins Monday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m. followed by games on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday concluding with the championship game at 7 p.m.
Redondo’s first game will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. against Mayfair. Led by head coach Reggie Morris Jr., the Sea Hawks finished with a 24-8 record last seaso, losing to Long Beach Poly 48-40 in the CIF-Southern Section Open Division – Consolation championships before reaching the semifinals in the State Regional Division 1 tournament.
Redondo returns its top three scorers in 6-foot-3 senior guard Leland Green (14.3 points per game), 6-foot-2 junior guard Ryse Williams (10.7 points per game) and 6-foot-1 senior guard Morgan Means (10.2 points per game). Green also led the Sea Hawks in rebounding averaging 5.3 per game.
Returning seniors Elijah Nesbit (5-3 point guard) and Cameron Williams (6-4 forward) will also play key roles for Redondo.
Long Beach Poly is the defending Pacific Shores champion defeating Redondo 63-61 in overtime in the finals.
Vying for the Pacific Shores title will be Campbell Hall, Compton, Roosevelt (Eastvale), Crespi, El Camino Real, Hart, Inglewood, Long Beach Poly, Lynwood, Mayfair, Narbonne, Oak Park, Peninsula, Rancho Christian, Redondo and Westchester.
