Assaults

At about 2:30 a.m. on July 22, officers responded to a family disturbance call and contacted a male and a female at a residence on 190th St. Officers observed redness on the woman’s face and scratches on the male’s face. The woman also complained of back pain. During the investigation officers determined that the man was the primary aggressor and had punched and choked the woman. According to police reports, she scratched him in an attempt to defend herself. The two had been dating for about a year. The man was arrested for felony assault charges and outstanding arrest warrants. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries

At about 2 a.m. on July 25, near Torrance Blvd. at Helberta Ave., officers responded to a radio call of an assault that had just occurred. Officers found an intoxicated victim. According to police reports, he said he was walking home from the Pier when several suspects jumped out of a vehicle and attacked him for no apparent reason. The victim said that he was punched and kicked in the head several times. The suspects returned to their vehicle and fled the area. The officers checked the area and did not locate any suspects.

At about 6:15 a.m. on July 25, a man showed up at the police department lobby to report an assault. The victim reported that he was in his vehicle about to leave his girlfriend’s apartment on S. Pacific Coast Highway at Ave. A when he was confronted by the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend and another subject. The two subjects were yelling and appeared angry as they approached his vehicle. Fearing for his safety, the victim drove off as the subjects gave chase in their vehicle. On several occasions the ex-boyfriend attempted to force the victim off the road. He was able to evade the ex-boyfriend by making a couple of quick turns in a residential neighborhood. During the investigation, officers determined where the ex-boyfriend worked and contacted him. The ex-boyfriend stated that he was trying to scare the victim. The officers placed the ex-boyfriend under arrest for felony assault. ER
