Newly selected Waterfront developer CenterCal Properties will host the second of a series of public workshops on Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in the Main Library second-floor conference room.
Santa’s coming to town
Kris Kringle will be making an appearance on the Redondo Beach pier this Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. Rock band High Tide will be performing holiday music and the KROQ Street Team will be on hand with giveaways. The event will benefit Cheer for Children Charity Toy Drive, and all attendees are invited to bring a new unwrapped toy. Immediately following the holiday concert will be the 21st Annual King Harbor Christmas boat parade starting at 5:30 p.m., with grand marshal, Bo Derek. Another panga boat was stopped in Rancho Palos Verdes last Monday and 25 people were detained and interviewed by Homeland Security investigators.
Decrease DUI deaths
The RBPD was awarded a $76,500 traffic and safety grant for an anti-DUI program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on the roadways. The grant will target impaired drivers as well as educate the public on the dangers through the use of DUI and driver’s license checkpoints. According to a release from the RBPD, in the last year in Redondo Beach, one person was killed and 18 people were injured in alcohol and drug-impaired crashes.
1736 Family Crisis Center Toy Drive at RUHS
The Redondo Union High School’s ‘People to People International’ club will be having their 3rd Annual Toy Drive to benefit the 1736 Family Crisis Center in Torrance. All toys must be new and unopened. To donate, they can be dropped off at the reception area of the high school.
