Redondo Beach Police Beat

Attempted Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 1:45 a.m., Redondo Beach police responded to 200 Yacht Club Way after receiving a report of a possible kidnapping.

The victim reported that his friend, a woman, was intoxicated and passed out on his boat. Two males then came on his boat—one was the woman’s boyfriend and the other was unknown to the male victim.

The boyfriend carried the woman off the boat and, when told to stop, the unknown male pointed a gun at the victim and told him to stay out of it.

The victim backed off. The woman was placed into a vehicle where she exited repeatedly and was put back into the vehicle by the boyfriend. The three left in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.

Misuse of 911, Mental Health Evaluation

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, police responded to Seaside Lagoon when a male repeatedly called 911 regarding his prior contacts with RBPD.

Officers contacted the suspect, who was determined to have a broken right arm, and transported him for treatment and mental health evaluation, and misuse of 911.
