Attempting to become one of the premier track and field meets on the West Coast, the Redondo Nike Track Invitational is growing in only its second year.
With Nike as its title sponsor, the event will host at least 45 complete teams along with select individuals and relay teams. Added this year is the Distance Festival to be held Friday beginning at 5 p.m. Track and field competition will be held in afternoon and evening sessions on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
Top finishers will be awarded Nike medals and all winners receive Redondo Nike Track Invitational Champion backpacks. The top male and female teams of the Distance Festival along with Saturday’s track and field competition will receive a special team trophy.
The event features a DJ playing music along with the Track Zone – an area operated by Nike that includes a Running Gait Analysis, a full retail space featuring low prices on current Nike training shoes and spikes and a glimpse of upcoming products.
Nike will also provide popular heat-pressed logos and designs on all souvenir merchandise purchased at the meet and, for the athletes, a photo booth where group and team photos will be uploaded to the meet website and Facebook.
