In its secularly observed state, Halloween is centered around fun. But how stressful is it when you’re faced with a big bowl of candy and are told to only pick one? I wasn’t prepared for this, didn’t conceive a plan of attack. The clock is ticking. Damn, there goes the Butterfinger – I might’ve wanted that. Hesitation. Anxiety. Sweat beginning to run down from my mask. Got to make a move quick…D’oh, I walked away with the granola bar!

Littered across this weekend’s calendar like candy wrappers and silly string in the wake of trick-or-treat mayhem are multitudinous live music shows and events. It’s a proverbial bowl of candy – perhaps a bowl of quandary. To help cut down on that sneaky stress which threatens to supplant your pure fun every Halloween, here’s a sneak peek at what’s going down in the South Bay’s music world this Halloween weekend. Hopefully you’ll be better prepared than the kid who blindly grabbed the granola in desperation to make a last second move.

There you have it. (Especially with the doors closing for good at Upper Manhattan Lounge) It appears there may not be any hip musical happenings throughout Manhattan Beach to choose from, but I’ve my suspicions about the Side Door – although fairly quiet about it, they usually seem to have something good going on. We hope this helps lend a hand to picking out your perfect piece of ear-candy this Halloween weekend. Have fun, be safe, and try not to trip on your capes while throwing down The Monster Mash out on those dance floors. ER
