Barley, Latch Key Kid, and Cubensis are among a dozen bands performing Saturday evening (Oct. 2) on the sand at the Hermosa Beach pier, in what is billed as the first ever “silent” beach concert.

The audience listens  through hi-fidelity headphones to the performers on five different stages, playing simultaneously.

The headphones have five channels for choosing which stage to listen to.

“When people hear about the idea of silent concerts, they say it sounds kind of isolating. What is surprising is when everyone is connected through the music, it’s communal, it’s bonding. The word that comes up most is, it’s so immersive.”

Tickets are $45 for adults and $15 for kids 12-under. Tickets are available at Hermosaharmonyfestival.com. ER
