“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”: Shakespeare by the Sea presents the Bard’s delicious romp through fairyland at 7 p.m. in Point Fermin Park, San Pedro. “Hamlet” opens on June 19 in the same location, the play running in tandem through July 5 before embarking throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area for several more shows. “Soul Surfer”: This 2011 film about teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost an arm in a shark attack, and then returned to the water to surf again, screen at at 7 p.m. on the Redondo Beach Pier, 500 Fisherman’s Wharf, in Redondo Beach. “Korengal”: The Korengal Valley, six miles long near the border with Afghanistan, has become the epicenter of the U.S. war in the country, and this documentary, by Sebastian Junger, picks up where “Restrepo” left off. It opens for one week at the Nuart Theatre 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., W. Los Angeles. The director attends Friday at 5:20, 7:30, and 9:40 shows, and on Saturday at the 5:20 and 7:30 shows.
